Anglais (Woodall), reeling from his stalled writing career and about to turn thirty, arrives in Paris determined to prove himself in the city of his dreams. With no experience or connections, he sets his sights on joining the brotherhood of waiters at trendy brasserie Au Comptoir Bleu. Initially mocked and out of his depth, he practises obsessively, learns the codes of the restaurant and earns his place among the coolest gang in town.
What follows is intoxicating: late nights, hard work and love affairs. For the first time, Anglais feels part of a family. But behind the polished lie of the dining room lurks another world, a tougher reality of relentless pressure and precarity. As friends unravel and his French crush breaks his heart, Anglais’ new life begins to crack: out of the chaos, a new dream takes shape.
